    About Our FATCA/CRS Training

Vertex Compliance provides practical FATCA/CRS training for financial institutions and other relevant organisations in the UAE. The programme explains the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, the Common Reporting Standard and the key differences between them.

It also explores entity classification, tax residence, controlling persons, US indicia, due diligence, changes in circumstances, reporting and recordkeeping. The training is shaped around your business and the people attending. Onboarding teams can focus on customer forms and supporting documents. Compliance teams may need more detail on complex classifications and escalations, while managers need a clear view of governance and oversight.

Realistic examples help employees connect the requirements with situations they may face at work. By the end of the session, your team should know what to check, which warning signs require attention and when an issue should be escalated.

    FATCA/CRS Training

    What the Training Covers?

The programme deals with three parts of FATCA and CRS that employees need to understand and apply.

    1. Rules and Classifications

The session starts with the purpose of FATCA and CRS and the difference between them. It then moves to the classifications that determine what an organisation or account may need to report. We explain terms such as Financial Institution, Non-Financial Entity, reportable account, controlling person and tax residence. FATCA registration and Global Intermediary Identification Number requirements can be included when they apply to the organisation. The level of detail depends on the group. Managers may need to understand responsibility and oversight. Employees working with customer files usually need more time on forms, supporting documents and classification decisions. Questions are encouraged throughout the session. If a term or rule is unclear, it should be dealt with before the training moves on.

    2. Customer Due Diligence

This part begins with situations employees are likely to recognise. A form has been signed, but one field is blank. An address points to one country, while the customer claims tax residence in another. The ownership of a company changes after the account has been opened. We use examples like these to explain how self-certifications and supporting records should be checked. Individual accounts, entity accounts, controlling persons, Tax Identification Numbers and US indicia can all form part of the discussion. Employees also need to know when existing information can no longer be relied upon. We explain how a change in circumstances may affect an account and what steps should follow. By the end of this section, the team should be better able to spot missing or conflicting information and refer uncertain cases to the right person.

    3. Reporting and Records

A reporting team cannot correct information it never receives. Customer-facing staff, operations teams and compliance employees all play a part in the final FATCA or CRS submission. We follow that flow from the customer record to the reporting file. The discussion may include data checks, reconciliations, approvals, corrections, rejected submissions and nil returns, depending on what is relevant to the attendees. Recordkeeping receives equal attention. If an account was treated as non-reportable, could the organisation explain why? Is the supporting self-certification still valid? Can the decision be traced to the person who made it? These questions help employees understand why accurate records matter long after onboarding is complete.

    Our Approach

Each programme is shaped around the organisation and the employees in the room.

    1
    Understand Your Needs

We ask about your activities, customers, current processes and training concerns. We also identify who will attend and how their roles connect with FATCA or CRS compliance.

    2
    Build Relevant Content

The session is then adjusted to suit those roles. Where useful, your forms, policies or working procedures can be included in the discussion.

    3
    Discuss Real Cases

Practical situations give employees a chance to think through common problems. They can see where mistakes begin and what a better response looks like.

    4
    Resolve Queries

Time is set aside for role-specific questions. Uncertainty raised during the session may also show where an internal procedure needs clearer wording.

    Who Needs FATCA/CRS Training?

    Compliance Teams
    Onboarding Teams
    Operations Teams
    Reporting Teams

Ideal for organisations training new employees, refreshing existing knowledge or addressing issues found during an audit or compliance review.

    Why Choose Vertex Compliance?

    Training by Role

People receive guidance linked to their actual responsibilities. They don’t have to sit through technical detail that has no connection to their work.

    Plain-Language Guidance

FATCA and CRS are already complicated. The training explains the requirements clearly and deals with technical terms only where they’re needed.

    Workplace Examples

Examples show how problems appear in real files and processes. This helps employees recognise warning signs instead of simply memorising definitions.

    UAE-Focused Content

Sessions are prepared for organisations operating in the UAE and can be adjusted to suit their structure, customers and reporting duties.

Yes. We can start with the basic terms and then work through everyday examples. Sessions for experienced employees can spend more time on complex classifications, reporting problems and unusual customer cases.
Yes, where appropriate. Using familiar forms and procedures can make the training more useful. It also gives employees a chance to raise questions about the process they already follow.
That depends on the number of topics, the experience of the participants and the depth required. We recommend a suitable duration after discussing your needs.
Vertex Compliance can answer follow-up questions and provide further help with policies, procedures, gap assessments or corrective work. Additional sessions can also be arranged when different teams require separate training.
